The e5g will be a kind of network that uses millimeter wave technology to transmit data at extremely high speeds. The network will use a new type of radio technology called mmWave, which is mentioned in the same announcement as 5G-LTE, which is the current standard for mobile internet in South Korea. This means that if you have an iPhone with an LTE version, then you will also have an e5g version — if your phone supports the mmWave technology! I’m not sure why people are so excited about this yet again; it seems like it’s going to cause more harm than good.
The big advantage for us is that we can expect more low latency connections for applications like gaming and streaming video at much higher speeds than we can currently achieve on 2G and 3G networks. The developers are already working on apps that make use of this technology and they say they expect it to be available first in 2018 or early 2019 in Korea or China (as there are still regulations surrounding 5G networks). More advanced hardware is required to use this type of technology and in some countries, it may not be available until 2022 or 2023 (but again, these regulations may change when governments need to update their regulations).
It sounds like this technology could help bring our lives closer together in ways we never imagined possible before now! I think this is something we all need to discuss more openly around here as we truly need help from businesses and government agencies if we want our lives saved from ourselves!
