M1 Pro MacBook Pro 14 vs MacBook Pro 13 M1 Specs Review laptop

M1 MacBook Pro 14 vs MacBook Pro 13 M1 Specs Review article

We have just had the announcement of the brand new MacBook pros and we’ve got those brand new chipsets now. we’ve got the m1 pro and the m1 max that look absolutely incredible. So today I’ve decided to do you guys a kind of comparison article of the m1 pro-14-inch MacBook pro versus a MacBook pro 13 inch with an m1 chipset inside it.  Here so that’s right today I want to do a comparison or a specs comparison on paper of the brand new 14-inch MacBook Pro with an m1 pro versus an m1 13-inch MacBook pro. Well let’s get started so starting out this comparison review on the MacBook pro-13-inch m1 chipset and we have the MacBook Pro   14-inch with an m1 pro chipset.

Display

So let’s begin first of all with a display type so for the MacBook pro-13-inch it has an led IPS technology screen this is still a great screen today but the MacBook pro-14-inch with the m1 pro actually has the brand new mini led promotion display what’s an XDR retina display so basically this has an adaptive screen on it. So it goes from 10 hertz or 24 hertz. I believe to 120 hertz in refresh rate it can adapt with that and also milli led technology is much brighter as you’ll see in the mo also we have the brand new screen sizes so with the MacBook Pro 13-inch it kind of gives it away in the name. It is a 13-inch wall specifically a 13.3 inch whereas the MacBook pro-14-inch is a 14.2 inch.

Screen Resolution

Going on screen resolution because they are different sizes the MacBook pro-13-inch has a resolution of 2560 by 1600 whereas the MacBook pro-14-inch has a resolution of 3024 by 1964. But going along with those pixels and there are loads of them. We also have the number of pixels per inch with the 13-inch MacBook pro with the m1 chipset inside it has 227 pixels per inch was quite a lot but the MacBook pro-14-inch actually has 254 pixels per inch. So it’s a little bit more with that mini led display than display refresh rate as I explained earlier the MacBook Pro has a 13 inch one whereas the MacBook pro 14 inch with that new XDR retina display has a 120-hertz refresh rate.
What’s an adaptive one from 24 all the way up to 120 hertz then for brightness and true tone the MacBook pro 13 inches has 500 nits and also the MacBook Pro 14-inch has 1000 nits as its standard brightness. This can go a little bit higher than this but for standard brightness, it’s 1000 but both of these screens do actually have true tone technology as well.

Processor

Moving on is the processor or the CPU. So the MacBook Pro 13 inch only has the ability to have an m1 chipset inside it, this is an eight-core CPU with four efficiency cores, four high-performance cores, and then it has an 8 core graphics CPU.

Coming next to MacBook pro 14 inch there’s actually two chipsets you can pick from, you can pick from the m1 pro and the m1 max. I will be sticking with the m1 pro for this article comparison, so with the m1 pro you have a choice of an eight-core CPU again but this one gives you two efficiency cores and six performance cores or you can actually pick the standard kind of processor, what actually gives you two efficiency cores and eight performance cores and then there’s a choice between  14 GPU cores all the way up to 16 cores CPU inside the m1 pro.

Moving on though to the geekbench 5   multi-core score and this is based on the actual CPU so funny enough the MacBook pro 13 inch m1   and also the m1 pro. The single-core is about the same amount but for multi-core with the 13-inch  MacBook pro. With m1 you get a score of 7382 but with the MacBook pro-14-inch m1 pro and this is with the 10 cores, not the eight cores. You get 11 542 for its multi-core score.

RAM

Moving on for ram choices so with the MacBook pro-13-inch m1 you’ve got a choice of 8 GB or 16 GB of ram and then with the MacBook pro-14-inch and only for the m1 pro chipset you’ve got a choice of 16 or 32GB of ram.

Storage

Moving on to storage, you have an SSD in both of these MacBook pros and you can choose between 256 GB to 2 TB on the MacBook pro-13-inch with the m1 but with the   MacBook Pro 14-inch with the m1 pro inside it, you can choose from 512 GB all the way up to   8 TB for ports.

Number of ports

There are some big changes here the MacBook pro-13-inch m1 only has two times  USB-c ports and one of those ports you’ll have to use for charging if you’re not going to be using your battery. But with the MacBook pro-14-inch, you get three times USB-c ports and these ports are   Thunderbolt 4 ports and also USB 4 ports and this is actually the same on the MacBook Pro 13 inch.

But with the 14 inch MacBook pro you also get a mag safe charging connection so you don’t have to use a USB c and you also get an HDMI 2.0 and an sd xe card slot as well built inside to the frame for the operating system. Both of these MacBook pros can nicely run mac OS Monterey and both of these MacBook pros will be able to run lots of versions of mac os into the future with lots of years of support behind them .

Specification

Battery life

Let’s move on specs reviews moving on to battery life and this is where things change a little bit so with the MacBook pro-13-inch with that m1 chipset inside it you get up to a 20-hour battery but with the MacBook pro 14 inches with the m1 pro you actually only get up to 17 hours.  The main reason is that the MacBook pro-14-inch processor is a little bit more powerful so it sucks up battery life a little bit quicker compared to m1 but for charging wattage the MacBook pro-13-inch m1 has a 61-watt charger with it whereas the MacBook pro-14-inch actually has a 96-watt charger.

Laptop weight

Moving on to weight there are some slight differences here:-  the MacBook pro 13 inch with the m1 weighs 1.4 kilograms whereas the MacBook pro 14 inch with the m1 processor inside it weighs 1.5 kilograms.

Sound quality

Both of these MacBook Pro have stereo speakers but the MacBook pro-14-inch actually has spatial audio built-in as well for Bluetooth technology.

Network Connectivity

Both of these run on Bluetooth 5.0 so there are no differences here between both the MacBook Pro.

Webcam quality

For the webcam, there are some changes though the 13-inch MacBook Pro has a 720p webcam inside it whereas the MacBook pro 14 inch actually has that notch design and behind that has a 1080p   camera inside.

Price

Moving on to the price there so starting out prices so this is the baseline price a MacBook pro 13 inches with 256 gigabytes of storage will cost you Rs 975536  (12999 USD) whereas the MacBook pro 14 inch and this is actually getting one of them with the eight cores what I spoke about earlier in that m1 pro with 512 gigabytes of storage actually starts out 1999 us dollars.

Colour choice

For colors wiser, there are two choices here. So for both of them, you can pick either silver or space grey, and finally, will you be buying yourself a new MacBook pro so as you can see the m1 pro in that 14 inch MacBook pro completely blows away the m1 chipset in the 13 inch MacBook pro.

Conclusion

However, that   m1 chipset is still a very very good chipset and if you’re starting out on your apple journey or if you’re just going to be doing kind of lighter tasks you’re not going to be a full-on creator and just being a creator as a hobby that chipset is still going to be great for you and of course that MacBook pro is also cheaper than the 14-inch one. so if you have enjoyed our blog please do share it with your companions.
