Among Us will be free to download via Epic Games Store till June 3, 2021. The popular social deduction game is being offered free-of-charge as part of Epic Games Store’s Mega Sale that kicked off on May 20 and will last till June 17.

Among Us was released in 2018 but it gained massive popularity last year as the coronavirus-induced pandemic restricted everyone to their homes. InnerSloth, the developer of the game, earlier announced that the game will soon be available for PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4.

Among Us

Among Us is a 2018 online multiplayer social deduction game developed and published by American game studio Innersloth. It was released on iOS and Android devices in June 2018 and on Windows in November 2018, featuring cross-platform play between these platforms. The game was also ported for the Nintendo Switch in December 2020, and has planned releases for the PlayStation 4, Playstation 5,Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S in 2021.

The game was inspired by the party game Mafia and the science fiction horror film The Thing, and since the release of its first map, The Skeld, three other maps were added, those being MIRA HQ, Polus and The Airship. The Airship’s design is based on Infiltrating the Airship from the Henry Stickmin series, another video game series developed by Innersloth. A fifth map is currently in development and will be released in a future update.

The game takes place in a space-themed setting, in which players each take on one of two roles, most being Crewmates, and a predetermined number being Impostors. The goal of the Crewmates are to identify the Impostors, eliminate them, and complete tasks around the map; the Impostors’ goal is to covertly sabotage and kill the Crewmates before they complete all of their tasks.

Players suspected to be Impostors may be eliminated via a plurality vote, which any player may initiate by calling an emergency meeting (except during a crisis) or reporting a dead body. Crewmates win if all Impostors are ejected or all tasks are completed, whereas Impostors win if there is an equal number of Impostors and Crewmates, or if a critical sabotage goes unresolved.

While the game was initially released in 2018 to little mainstream attention, it received a massive influx of popularity in 2020 due to many well-known Twitch streamers and YouTubers playing it. The COVID-19 pandemic has also been credited to the growth of the game. The game received positive reviews from critics, being praised for its gameplay and setting, although it was criticized for its technical issues.

In response to the game’s popularity, Among Us 2 was announced in August 2020. However, the planned sequel was canceled a month later, and the team shifted its focus to improving the original game. Merchandise based on the game, such as toys, shirts, etc., were announced and released. Among Us has also inspired internet memes and achieved a very large following online.

Highlights

  • Among Us will become the mobile game with the most monthly players in 2020, with over 500 million active players in November.
  • The game was developed by ‘Innersloth’ gaming studio which only has 4 developers.
  • However, Free Fire is the highest-grossing mobile game of 2020, largely due to Among Us not being heavily monetised.
  • The original name of this game was different. It was the “Space mafia” designated and licensed for the video games, but developers changed their mind and renamed it “Among Us”. This is perhaps the most interesting fact about Among Us.
  • A new stage for Among Us. Innersloth mentioned that the theme for the next stage of the game is going to be a Henry Stickmin themed location. The developers are in the early stages of designing the layout
  • The team mentioned that they are figuring out server issues to make the gaming process a smoother one

Among Us is a multiplayer game for four to fifteen players.Up to three players are randomly chosen to be the impostor(s) each round. A round can take place on one of four mapsspaceship called “The Skeld”; a headquarters building called “MIRA HQ”; a planet base called “Polus”; or “The Airship”, which is based on InnerSloth’s Henry Stickmin series.

At the start of the game, Crewmates are assigned “tasks” to complete around the map in the form of minigames, consisting of maintenance work on vital systems such as fixing wires and downloading data. Impostors are given a fake list of tasks to blend in with Crewmates. However, they cannot legitimately perform tasks.

Impostors can sabotage vital systems (such as the ship’s oxygen supply), covertly travel through vents, and work with other Impostors to kill Crewmates. If a player dies, they become a ghost. Ghosts can pass through walls, spectate other players, and chat with other ghosts.Living players have a limited cone of vision but ghosts do not have this limitation

List of colors in Among Us

Players are able to select between 18 different colors using the customize ability in the lobby:Red,Blue,Green,Pink,Orange,Yellow,Black,White,Purple,Brown,Cyn,Lime,Maroon,Rose,Banana,Gray,Tan and Coral. The players selected color does not directly affect gameplay, and only directly affects the players in game appearance.

The only exception was Fortegreen, who was not legitimately playable in game and caused numerous bugs when played as.Each color also has a unique color ID; for example,Red’s is 0 and Yellow’s is 5.Fortegreen was an exception to this rule.however,as it occupied all IDs of whole numbers above 11,examples being 122,13, and 100.As of version 2021.2.21,Fortegreen’s color ID was removed from the code so it cannot be accessed by ID.

What does cyan mean in  Among Us

Among Us is a straightforward game. You either fix the ship or try to kill those fixing the ship. But sometimes new languages and metas crop up in the game. One such word that can cause some players confusion is “cyan”. For those that have never seen that word before or what it’s referencing, it can be a puzzling moment.

To put it simply, cyan is the name of a color, specifically, light blue. Whenever someone is referring to “cyan” in Among Us, they’re talking about the spaceman that isn’t the dark blue character. No one really uses the term “light blue” as it takes longer to type out, and speed is often rather important.

Most of the other colors are fairly self-explanatory. There aren’t a lot of alternative color names that are used, except perhaps “lime” to refer to light-green. However, this is certainly a more common and easily-understood name for a colorFiguring out which one is cyan can also be tough if that person is using a blank name or has no name.

This is a rather cheeky strategy that makes it a bit more difficult for players to identify you.If you want to be the cyan spaceman in Among Us, make sure you know how to use the character creator.

This will allow you to not only pick cyan, but also equip different hats, skins, and even a pet if you buy one.For those that have never seen the word “cyan” before, being confronted with it in Among Us is bound to be confusing.

No, it’s not some way of calling someone “sus”, it’s actually referring to one of the many colors players can choose. So now, when the word cyan appears in the discussion field, you’ll know that everyone is talking about light-blue.

Conclusion

The conclusion explores the logical implications of these chapters. After analyzing audiovisual elements to see what they suggest about theological arguments, this chapter interprets the style of these films in particular to draw more general conclusions.

With unconventionally lush soundscapes, extended shots, exaggerated lighting, and disorienting close-ups, these movies explicitly challenge viewers to question their individual powers of perception.

Rather than overtly striving for the verisimilitude that creates an accessible dream world, these films fragment solitary perspectives and construct universes that rely on many viewpoints.

Through these experimental techniques, these movies press audiences to view the world in a way that articulates interdependent worldviews. Ultimately, the style of these films implies that reading the flesh can reveal the word, but only through the intersubjective conversation one conducts with those who dwell among us..
